This past weekend Trevor, Luke & I drove down to a cabin near Mountain View, Arkansas to meet up with my college roommates Mary Ellen and Gladys and Gladys’ husband Josh. This is the third time we’ve all met up over Labor Day in the past five years and it’s always so much fun. This year was a little different having Luke along so we didn’t get to do quite as much hiking, kayaking, etc. that we’ve done in the past. It was so fun to get to see my good friends get to know Luke even better though!
As I’ve mentioned in the past, both Mary Ellen and Gladys take amazing pictures, so this post is FULL of photos. (Although, I even took a few with my new lens and camera!)
We arrived on Saturday (Husker game day) so Luke was sporting his Husker gear:
We had corn that night so I got to explain the difference to Mary Ellen between “cornhusking” and “corn shucking”. Here’s a pic of our little Nebraska Cornhusker!
In these next two pictures, Luke found a blade of grass and of course put it in his mouth. They crack me up because he looks like a little farmer.
Just chillin’ on the back deck
Luke helping Mary Ellen do the dishes in quite the unorthodox way!
I LOVE this picture of Luke that caught his goofy, scrunched-up face smile that he doesn’t do very often anymore!
On Sunday we went hiking. Trevor bought this hiking backpack off of Craigslist this summer and used it a few times at the parks around KC. It worked out perfectly to take Luke with us on a fun hike.
Luke fell asleep on the hike so we left him in the backpack while we played in the creek.
He woke up later to get in on the action though!
It was a little cold for him at first!
He warmed up to the idea later though
The boys had fun being boys and skipping rocks
The back porch had the cutest little rocking chair that Luke fit in perfectly!
On Sunday evening, we went into Mountain View to do a little shopping and listen to folk music. We’d been here a few times before in college and I love it there. It’s the cutest little town where they play music on the square every night.
After we left Mountain View, we stopped at a catfish place on the river to eat.
I snapped a few photos of the cabin before we left on Monday morning. This is the best cabin we’ve stayed at yet and it wasn’t expensive at all. We might have to stay here again sometime!
Before we left we snapped some more photos
Since the cabin was so secluded, we couldn’t find anyone to take a group picture of us so we set up the timer and this is the best we got.
Can’t wait to do this again!!
