So you may have noticed that I left five of my 101 in 1001 goals open when I made my list. The first one I marked as "Left open for new goal - to be determined by 1/1/2009." I just realized that date was quickly approaching!
I thought it would be a good idea to leave some wiggle room to allow for new things that come up that I would like to do. I'd seen this challenge somewhere in the past few months and it had been in the back of my mind. The theory is that you should be able to do 100 pushups in 6 weeks. My first thought was, "Oh sure, I can do 100 pushups in 6 weeks" and then I realized it meant 100 consecutive pushups! :) Just kidding...I knew what it meant. And quite frankly, I am a little scared I won't be able to do it! So I contemplated not putting it on the list because I am such a perfectionist/determined/competitive person and it would kill me to not complete an item on my list! Then I realized that the whole point of the 101 challenge is to stretch yourself to do things that you didn't think you could do....even if you try and fail, at least you gave it an effort.
So Trevor and I will be embarking on this adventure together by following the training plan. Let me know if you decide to join us!

I don't know what has gotten into me, but I am going to try this. I have been doing this for about 9 days now. I have not had an "inital test", however, I am trying the pyramid way of doing it. Basically, I started out with 10, then 8, 6, 4, 2. I did that for three days (skipping a day in between for the muscles to "rebuild"). Then I tried a 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1. That went alright. Then, I tried a 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, but wasn't feeling it enough, so I did 10 more, then 7, then 7 - to reach 75. Tonight, day 5 (or 6, in exercise days), I did the 10-1, then I did as many as I could in a row, after all that (11 more). For a total of 86. I generally rest about a minute in between some of the bigger ones. Maybe I will try my "max" in a couple of days. It is true how interesting it is that your body recovers so quickly!
Jarrod - I'm glad you're joining us! It is amazing how fast your body improves, isn't it? Although I think my body is rebelling on me during week 5! :) It's been rough so far...
